Website/Database Replication- The Viral component of MultiDB

Now we've done it. We've added a new powerful feature: "Replication".

Imagine being able to have people sign up for their marketing member's site. They would get their own site when they sign up, complete with items to sell. They would have a site with database included that would be a duplicate of yours. All the items you have would be duplicated to theirs. They would also be able to do some customizations of their site but retain your basic look
.They could add/modify products to their sites including products that have posted by their members. They could specify to allow others to post to their site or just themselves. We've even included an email list section to enable them to email their members based on their member's entries they posted.

Essentially you could charge them for this duplicate site or give it away free. If they wanted to hook this their duplicate site to Pay Pal they, could produce a Pay PAl button and insert it into their database item entry. They could use any credit card system that produces a 'Buy' button.

What's involved? Simply when you create your database site with Wizard, you would check off the 'Replication box on the 'Specify Templates values' page . Any one registering to thast site gets theirs.

If your database is 'test', theirs will 'test_joe' or 'test_jim' for example. Once they register,they get an email which they must respond to. When they log in, they are redirected to their site with a URL such as

http://multidbexpress.com/multidb/test_joe2. They as admin of that database with you as the main admin can login to their admin panel by using thier username and password and simply loggin in.

Membership Linking

What we've done is to link membership registrations for database/sites created. Normally each one has its own set of username and passwords but when linked, all linked refer to a primary registration dataabse so the person only needs to register one. So one site could be designed that has several registartion databases tied together.

Member's Image Approval hold Area/Image Resizer.

The admin has the ability to specify whether to allow images posted on the user side to be examined first before posting or to be posted without approval. Should the admin opt in to approve images , Images will not appear on the user search until the admin approves them . Pictures will be omitted and have the words, 'Image Awaiting Approval' . The admin can from the main control panel access the images awaiting approval by clicking the 'Image Hold' button. Images can be adjusted in size. The images must be checked off to approve them otherwise they are not approved and a blank image is inserted into the member's entry. This mode of image approval can be set in under the 'Output Display section' on the 'Specify Templates Values' page after the 'Templates Selection' page.

Instant Import Site Creation

We took our import feature and made it so that you could instantly create a database site with simply a text file with your information it . A default look would be created. You can easily go to the 'Output Display' Section of MultiDB admin panel and select your own template giving it more your desired look.

The text file type used is called a Comma delimited type . This means that the various info is seperated by commas. This format is exportable from many pc databases like Access which our test was based on. Here is that format.

Test it - download this text file (test.zip) to your computer . It contains the above info. It is a zip so that you can download as is. Don not use 'Winzip to open simply rename it to test.txt . You may also copy and save the above 3 lines of info as a text file . Save it . When you go to test MultiDB , use this file in the import section. Add also a Database/site name and import. That's it.
You can customize the look by clicking on the admin 's Outpu Display' button or under the MultiDB menu , 'Edit', then 'User Side Display'.

Template Upload

We've tried hard to give you look you want . Included are template designs for you you to use instantly. You also have the options to not use any template and plug the results into frames as with our real estate demos.

We've gone a step further for you to upload a template to give you the look throughout. Using the format here.

MultiDB simplies plugs into the names you see enclosed by '%%' with the template values you specify in the admin panel. It will also plug in the logo image. All you do is copy this page and edit it to give your look .You could choose to leave out say the 'post/edit' Link or membership links if you didnt want any one to post to your site.

In the template, there is %%searchform%% . This is important because MultiDB will plug everything it generates into this named item.

When you test the admin demo and are in the 'Output Display' section, you'll see on the right hand side 'Custom templates'. Click on the Template details link. Right click on the template details page and save it as say 'test.htm' . Then go back and click on upload template.Give the template a name and then select the file from your computer then upload it. If you have images, you will upload one at a time. These images should be inthe same directory as the html page that contains them for MultiDB to work properly.

Go back to the template selection page , select your template and click the circle next to it and Press 'Continue'. You will then be able to preview your design.
